Atomic Arts is holding auditions for TREK IN THE PARK: SPACE SEED on Saturday, March 27th from 12pm-5pm at 3311 SE 17th ave (just south of Powell). Auditions will be 5-10 mins long and consist of reading sides from the script which will be provided or a short dramatic monologue. Most roles are already precast, but the main guest female heavy, Lt. Marla McGivers, still needs to be filled. Please bring your headshot and resume and dress to move. Rehearsals begin June 1st (Sunday through Wednesday evenings). Rehearsals and performances will be held at the Woodlawn Park amphitheater at NE 13th and Dekum off the #75 bus. The show runs Saturday and Sunday afternoons July 10-Aug 1. There is no pay.

Synopsis: Trek in the Park is a live performance of a classic Star Trek episode done outdoors and is free to the public. This summer, we present an episode with one of the most classic and enduring villains to ever cross paths with Kirk and crew in the final frontier, KHAN.

A perfectly preserved, genetically enhanced warrior from the 20th century, Khan, is revived by the crew of the USS Enterprise upon discovering his adrift ship. The crew deduce Khan was the kind of 20th century leader who could have conquered the Earth in his time. However, not everyone is suspicious of Khan’s intentions, one such person is Lt. Marla McGivers, the ship’s historian. She is so moved by Khan’s glorious ambition, she assists him in hijacking the Enterprise to finish the conquest Khan Noonian Singh started 200 years ago. Will this be the last generation for the crew of the USS Enterprise?

The roles available are as follows (all other roles are cast):

Lt. Marla McGivers: Female. The historian on the Enterprise. She is obsessed with the great conquerers and war heroes of the past. It is no surprise she has a particular interest in Khan, perceived as one of the greatest and most mysterious warriors of 20th century Earth. So interested, she betrays her crew and peers to be at Khan’s side for his next conquest. This role will have sides provided at the audition.

Montgomery Scott (Scotty): Male. A man of great ingenuity, technical prowess, and warm hearted friend to have around. The Chief engineer of the Enterprise has the reputation of a “miracle worker”. Scottish accent is a MUST. This role will have sides provided at the audition.

Khan’s followers (3): We will need 1 female and 2 males for these roles. If you have any stunt/stage combat experience or any cool physical special skill that is definitely a plus. Please bring a 1-2 min prepared dramatic monologue to the audition.

Red shirt: Male. We will need someone with some stunt/stage combat experience because, you guessed it, you’re gonna die! Please bring a 1-2 min prepared dramatic monologue to the audition.
